Sited close to the edge of a steep slope down to the inner Tauranga harbour, this house will command a view of the forest which will provide a feeling of a luxury retreat. Forms are influenced by simple tropical pavilions, as are water gardens close to the house and the main pool.
The tropical pavilion house influence is carried through with crisp roof edge detailing (there is usually no roof spouting in the tropics). Groups of bifold doors give large openings with polished porcelain tiles inside and out to large dining and outdoor sitting spaces. Doors have closed louvres to the bottom half which gives a fresh aesthetic and completes the crafted Singaporean feel. Timber eaves brackets and sloped downpipes all add to the character giving detail to the simple house form.
